Community Service

"Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more,
but those giving more." ~ H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian school celebrates the pursuit of individual excellence and the spirit of collaboration. Therefore, community service has been at the heart of our school since its inception. The goal for community service is to engage students in thoughtful, intentional and purposeful activities as responsible citizens to make an impact locally and globally. Pilibos embraces global competencies as necessary skills that encourage students to view the world as interconnected with an emphasis on the importance of continually informed awareness of global conditions and perspectives including ways to collaboratively identify paths to lasting solutions.

All 9th-12th grade students are required to complete 100 hours of community service off campus by the time they graduate high school. Since this is a graduation requirement, student hours are logged by counselors. A comprehensive list of community service opportunities is available in the Center for Student Success. As soon as you begin accumulating hours, please complete a community service hours verification form, have your site supervisor sign it, and return the form to the counselor so that your hours can be logged.
Winter and summer breaks are the ideal time to work on your community service hours. You can also use after-school hours as well as the weekends. Please refer to the various organizations/agencies we have listed on the “Community Service Opportunities” links below.

Please feel free to contact the Center for Student Success for more information, help with selecting a community service site, required paperwork, hours completed up to date, and any other questions you may have.
