Pilibos Student Honored At Board Of Supervisors Meeting

Haig Ter-Ghevondian, a junior at Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School, was honored on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Board of Supervisors meeting. As a participant in the local Mock Trial competition, Haig was named outstanding bailiff.

In the Los Angeles Mock Trial event, students from schools in the Los Angeles area try a court case, with the students acting as defense and prosecution attorneys, witnesses for the defense and prosecution, clerk and bailiff. The bailiff calls the courtroom to order to begin the proceedings and swears in the witnesses.

Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School is the only Armenian school that participates in this event. “We are naturally very proud of Haig and of all of our students who competed in the Mock Trial this year,” said Mr. Nazo Apanian, principal of Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School. “Events such as the Mock Trial give our students an opportunity to take the analytical, writing, and speaking skills they learn in the classroom and apply those skills in a real-life situation.”
